弗吉尼亚理工大学（Virginia Tech），全称为弗吉尼亚理工学院暨州立大学（Virginia Polytechnic Intitute and State Univerity），是一所位于美国东岸弗吉尼亚州（Virginia）的著名公立大学。弗州理工成立于1872年，现已发展成弗吉尼亚州内规模最大、提供学位最多的创新研究性综合高等院校
学校概况
学校由占地2,600多英亩的主校区和分布其他六个地区的分支及研究机构组成，拥有建筑100多幢和一座机场，并同时在瑞士设有海外教学基地，在州内拥有1,700英亩的农业研究基地；共有教职员工1,300 左右，本科生22,000人，研究生7,000多人，2008年度预算9.67亿美金；是美国前50大的研究重镇，为Newweek 评鉴前30名的最佳公立大学，是一个学术风气及研究气息极佳的学校。根据卡内基教育基金会于2005年公布的大学分类，弗吉尼亚理工被归类为特高研究型大学（very high reearch activity）。
学院设置
弗州理工设有农学和生命科学学院、建筑和城市研究学院、艺术和社会科学学院、Pamplin商学院、工程学院、自然资源学院、文理学院、兽医学院等8个学院以及研究生院，近百个科系，可授予60 种学士学位，以及140 种硕士学位、博士学位。由于理工学院出身，弗州理工的农学、工程、建筑、林学、兽医等传统学科依然是其最强的专业，其各科系多排名全美前20，而弗吉尼亚理工大学的建筑类专业更是全美数一数二的热门科系。同时，由于军校前身，弗州理工也是全美保留军校生传统（Corp of Cadet）的6所高等学府之一 。弗州理工已于2007年着手在Roanoke筹建医学院，并预计于2009或2010年开始招生。
弗州理工主校区坐落于弗吉尼亚州西南部的黑堡（Blackburg）镇，背靠阿巴拉契亚山脉，处于新河谷（New River Valley）中心区，距离美国杰佛逊国家森林公园（Jefferon National Foret）仅有数里之遥，而距离美国首都华盛顿特区不到4小时车程。黑堡，大约有四万公民，是一个四季分明、治安良好、景色宜人、人民友善的小镇，所以名列十大美国最适宜养老的小镇。
学校声誉
到2009年5月为止, 弗州理工师生正在共同研究的项目多达6,697个，研究范围跨度很大，从生物技术到材料工程，从环境能源到食品健康，从土木建设到计算机信息，研究成果都令人刮目相看。
学校体育
Hokie Bird是学校吉祥物，学校的代表色是暗红色跟橘色，每当Football球赛季时，您便会看到六万人的体育场一片橘海，煞为壮观。提到橄榄球和篮球，Virginia Tech可以说是NCAA的常胜军，年年挤入岁末的大杯赛，2004年由Big Eat联盟转入ACC联盟，便拿到冠军，可见学校体育风气的兴盛。

弗吉尼亚理工语言学校
弗吉尼亚理工学院下设语言学校供没有语言成绩的中国学生就读，并于2010年开始实行双录取（语言+本科录取），被录取的学生将先到语言学校就读，当达到本科要求后可随本年春季或秋季入学始入读本科。语言学校将根据入学考试的成绩决定课程级别。级别最高为550.。每个学期为两了月，通过考试后级别增加五十。语言学校的基本课程为语法，阅读和写作。另外还可以选课进行学习，如：SAT课程，TOEFL课程，词汇课程等。语言学校有两个校区，一个在布莱克斯堡一个在华盛顿。学生可根据自己的情况选择学习上午课程或下午课程，布莱克斯堡校区的上午课程为周一到周五的8点至12点，下午课程为周一到周四的1点至5点45.。布莱克斯堡校区旁边就是大学的购物中心并且有公交车站。
