马里兰巴尔的摩大学成立于1963年，马里兰州，巴尔的摩，属于三级国家级大学。巴尔的摩大学位于巴尔的摩市区内，距离美国首都华盛顿不到一小时车程，距离纽约三小时车程。大学地处巴尔的摩市文化中心区，校区离利瑞克歌剧院、梅耶浩夫音乐厅只有几步之遥。另外，校区离著名的明珠海港不远，周围有众多商店、餐馆以及娱乐场所。
巴尔的摩大学由人文学院、商学院、法学院三个主要学院组成，另有十多个专业教学和研究中心，可授予学士学位、硕士学位、博士学位。具有完善的管理体制、严格的教学体系和多样化的教学方式。巴大雄厚的教育和科研实力，使其在教学、科研及公共服务方面都取得了很大的成就。大学不仅授予学生广博的专业知识，而且还结合最先进的技能和技术，使学生毕业后能很快适应这个极具挑战的社会。
巴尔的摩大学在工程、生物科学、语言学、教育和健康科学等学科比较优秀。现有在校生10000多人，包括9500多本科生和2000多研究生，这些学生来自美国45个洲和全球91个国家。
